The Dream Job Isn't Porn Actor, but Porn Director

I receive countless messages from guys that want to be porn actors.  I get it.  It's obviously and understandably the dream job of many many men.  It was my dream job too, which is why I pursued it so avidly.  But as someone blessed with the honor of appearing in a few JAV videos myself, I can tell you that it's not all it's cracked up to be.

As jobs go it's pretty good--you get paid to have sex.  That sounds like a pretty damn good deal on paper.  But at the end of the day it's still a job, and psychology studies show that when you get paid to do anything (even sex), you enjoy it less.  You're just a hired dick taking orders from a boss.  You're golden of course if the boss's vision happens to line up perfectly with your own fantasies, but it's very rare for work-for-hire shoots to be on your own terms like that.  Sex can feel like work if the girl and/or scenario isn't really your thing.  Add in the cameras, lighting, and other people in the room, and you have this combined experience quite distant from fun "normal" sex.

For a few guys it's a massive turn-on.  Having sex in a brightly-lit studio in front of video production assistants and an overweight chain-smoking Japanese cameraman actually enhances the eroticism.  They're turned on by just about anything and everything.  They love the jazz.

Porn actor is the perfect job for these kinds of guys.  However, guys like these are few and far between.  Most men prefer to have sex under "normal" circumstances, as in just guy and girl (or even better...several girls).

Like anything, having sex in front of other people takes practice and some getting used to.  You can't just jump into the deep end of the pool and expect to swim like a pro.

Oh yeah...us guys will jerk off endlessly to a plethora of wild fantasies on Pornhub, confidently stating in the comments section that we'd "smash the fuck outta that ass."  We could do such a better job than the guy in the video.  However, if you actually take that guy and put him on set in front of staff, lights, and camera, then shit won't go down as well as proudly declared in said Pornhub comments.

This is probably why I almost never see porn actors talking shit about other porn actors online.

Therefore I would argue that the dream job is not porn actor, but porn director.  I'm reminded of the old Hollywood expression: "But what I really wanna do is direct!"  This rings true especially in the porn industry because directing is the ultimate empowerment.  You create your own fantasies.

And living out your own fantasies on your own terms is the fantasy of fantasies--the ultimate fantasy.  It's the dream job because you get to be you.  I dunno about you, but I get a big ol' boner when I get to be me.

You might be thinking, "Fuck that!  I don't wanna be sitting in some fancy chair yelling 'Action!' and 'Cut!' while other guys get to fuck the hot girls!"  This ain't Hollywood, dude.  The porn director is very often in the videos.

Have you ever watched a porn video and wondered why the guy is old, overweight, and/or unattractive?  That's the porn director.

Have you ever watched a JAV video, and you see 3 scenes with fit, good-looking guys, then the 4th scene is with this old fat dude?  That's the JAV director.

Wake the fuck up.

Now you might be thinking, "Fuck that!  I don't have the money or resources to put all that together!"

If that's the way you feel, then you've already lost, my friend.  You don't belong in this industry or any self-employment lifestyle for that matter.  Stick with your stable day-job and jerk off to porn.

I once participated in a pro JAV VR shoot, and I felt sorry for the main actor.  He couldn't really move or talk and had this massive camera rig right in his face blocking his view of the hot girl.  It certainly didn't look like a very pleasurable sexual experience.  The guy really earned his money that day.

After the shoot I realized why my JAV director colleague shoots lots of 2D videos himself, but never does VR.
